NZMA
This qualification is designed for learners who want to begin their training in health, and acquire broad-based practical skills and theoretical knowledge including human anatomy and development. This foundational programme is a pathway to the Bachelor of Health Science which could lead to a variety of careers including midwifery and nursing.
This programme is ideal preparation for further studies in health. You will gain important knowledge about health and develop a wide range of academic skills to support your future success in a tertiary environment. Completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to apply for enrolment into the Bachelor of Health Science, selecting from a range of health pathways including nursing and midwifery.
The Study and Career Preparation for Nursing (Level 4) is open to those who have:
Successfully attended an interview
Completed one of the following: Certificate in Health Studies (Level 3) OR Year 12 and achieved NCEA level 2 or equivalent OR Successfully applied for Special Admission (if over 20 years old)
Additionally for international students: Achieved IELTS level 5.5 (average) with no band lower than 5.0 (or equivalent) if English is an applicant's second language. (Please note it
is highly recommended that students find out the specific IELTS requirements of their preferred degree pathway)
