What attracted you to study at NZIS?

I was living overseas, and I was doing some online research about programmes in the sports industry. I had a chat to one of the tutors about the course, and it felt right!

How has your course at NZIS helped you?

I have increased knowledge around exercise prescription, especially helping with clients around cardiovascular rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation and physical needs.

Where are you working now? And what is your role?

I’m a Physical Health Advisor for Sport Canterbury.

What does your work involve?

Working with the green prescription programme that Sport Canterbury provide. Meeting clients, delivering active programmes, business administration and visiting medical practices.

What is the most exciting aspect of your job?

I really enjoy going out into the community and delivering physical/mental health programmes. I also enjoy the interactions I have with clients.

How did you feel when you were coming to NZIS? What was campus life like?

I was an older student, so it was nice that the campus was very welcoming. Everything was available when needed, and I enjoyed being on campus.

What were the highlights of your course?

I really enjoyed the second Diploma, as we started to specialise more in the areas of the sport, fitness and recreation industry.

What is your career goal?

Enjoying physical activity in a community setting.

What is one life lesson you learnt during your study and work?

“Keep an open mind and be interactive with others that you support.”
