New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2) - Trades

If you are 16 – 19 years old and want to be part of the building boom, this FREE course is the perfect starting point.

You won’t be stuck in a classroom all day – over 16 weeks you’ll be busy working with your hands, doing projects, going on field trips and you’ll get an introduction to the construction industry.

Whether you want to become a builder, plumber or sparky, you’ll build your confidence and sense of self by working on a community project, you’ll also meet others like you, learn about different cultures, and get to visit some industry workplaces.

• Free for 16 - 19 year olds as part of the Government-led Youth Guarantee programme.

• Not be enrolled in a secondary school, and either:

• 16 to 19 years of age at the time he or she commences the programme, or 15 years of age at the time he or she commenced the programme and have an early leaving exemption from his or her school

• Applicants without formal qualifications must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA Entry Assessment

• Enrolment is subject to an interview process

YOUTH GUARANTEE
You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-19 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. 

You can also get help with paying for travel to and from your course. This can all be sorted through Student Support.
