This qualification is designed for 16-24 year old learners who want to explore different study options at NZMA, and provides foundational knowledge across one or more of the most popular disciplines on offer at NZMA - hospitality, cookery, health and sport. This 18 week programme allows learners a taste of different paths ahead of making a decision about future study at NZMA.

If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

In this practical course, you’ll get to know yourself and discover a range of things you can study in the NZMA family. Over 16 weeks you’ll get to try out one or more of our most popular subjects (Hospitality, Cookery, Health and Sport) . You’ll be busy working with your hands, doing projects and going on field trips instead of just sitting in a classroom.

In this course you’ll also meet others like you, learn about different cultures, visit a marae and get to visit some industry workplaces

New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2)

To enrol you will need to be: 

  • A NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • 16 to 19 years of age before the start of the course.*

  • Come and meet us and have a chat at the campus

  • Prepared to study full-time 

You will also need to complete an application form. These courses fill up quickly and spaces are available on a first-come first-served basis. 

*15 year olds who hold Ministry-approved early exemption from their school may also be eligible. This exemption must be in place before the course starts.

YOUTH GUARANTEE
You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-19 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme

You can also get help with paying for travel to and from your course. This can all be sorted through Student Support.
