This qualification is designed for learners who want to learn introductory information and skills for a career in the tourism, travel or airline industry. Learners will study the specific Aotearoa New Zealand tourism context, different accommodation options, introductory knowledge of aircraft, the airline industry and the roles and responsibilities of international and domestic aiports. Learners will gain skills in customer service and client-communication, selling travel tours and packages, and promotional skills including a presentation to classmates on a chosen New Zealand hotel. This programme provides learners the skills needed to enter the tourism industry and is a pathway to Level 4 tourism courses.

Domestic Students
At the start of the course, domestic applicants must:
Be a minimum of 17 years of age
Have NCEA Level 2 (60 credits) plus NCEA Level 1 (80 credits) OR
Equivalent unit standards, course of study or work experience deemed equivalent.

All international applicants must:
Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the start of all courses
Have completed Secondary School offshore or New Zealand Year 12 or equivalent work experience
Have English language proficiency as outlined in the International Page on this website
