This course is for students wishing to study further from the Level 3 certificate in Police Preparation and broaden employment pathways into uniformed services. Whether you want to become a Police Officer, Fire-Fighter or join the Army, Navy or Air Force, we’ll prepare your mental and physical fitness so you’re ready to nail the recruitment and selection process.

Want to join an industry that has endless and exciting opportunities? Our Police and Uniformed Services course will set you up towards a career in the Police, Fire and Emergency, Private Security, the NZ Defence Force and many more.  

We’ll help you develop your team working and problem-solving skills while participating in adventurous activities. You’ll be training in our on-campus gyms working hard to improve your fitness and ability through advanced physical training with our supportive and industry-experienced tutors.

Certificate in Advanced Police and Uniformed Services Training (Level 4)

Entry is open to students based on the following criteria: 

  • Relevant Pre Police/uniformed services related Level 3 qualification, or 

  • Achieved NCEA level 3 in school or equivalent 

  • A successful Police Security background check 

  • Have access to a reliable computer (preferably a laptop) and the internet 

  • Be physically fit (i.e. able to perform within 40% of the Police Entry requirements for the 2.4 km run, press-ups, grip test and 50 m swim – all of which are age and gender-dependent) 

  • Have a learner’s driving license (at a minimum) 

  • Undertake a face-to-face interview or telephone interview 

International student additionally: Achieved IELTS level 5.5 (average) with no band lower than 5.0 (or equivalent) if English is an applicant's second language.  



  • Pending NZQA approval
