This qualification is designed for learners who want to gain skills in cafe and hospitality services, including learning how to make coffee, food safety and preparation, customer service, and basic maths and english literacy. This programme will provide learners with all the tools to work in cafes or functions as a server and/or barista.

You’ll master the fine art of coffee making, learn how to prepare hot and cold beverages, learn about restaurant service and food safety and pick up a host of other practical hospitality skills. You’ll come away with a Level 3 certificate and a Certificate in Basic Food Safety. Studying on this programme will also give your English and Maths skills a boost.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old

  • Applicants must be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent or meet the requirements of the NZMA Entry Assessment

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old

  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent or meet the requirements of the NZMA Entry Assessment

  • If English is your second language, we may get you to sit an English Language Assessment.

  • If you are an international student, you also need to have an English level of 5.0 IELTS or equivalent* with no band score lower than 5.0.

  • You must have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.

* Other English Tests / evidence may be approved as advised by NZQA

YOUTH GUARANTEE
You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-19 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme

You can also get help with paying for travel to and from your course. This can all be sorted through Student Support.
