This qualification is designed for learners who want to gain introductory knowledge and skills in health studies, including an overview of New Zealand's healthcare system, possible career paths, and human anatomy and development. This programme equips learners with the foundational skills to progress into further study in health care, including health sciences degrees at various Universities, and is an appropriate first step in a nursing career.

Have you always dreamed of becoming a nurse? The Pre-Nursing Pathway (Level 3) is a programme designed to make meaningful steps into the health industry. You will gain a greater understanding of the health care system in New Zealand and develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in the field.

Learn in a fun and supportive environment with guest speaker sessions, and group assignments. This programme is also a stepping stone towards preparing you for further studies. Upon completion, you will be prepared to apply for our higher-level Pre-Nursing programmes, or pathway to University degrees across New Zealand.

This course is also part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

  • Applicants may possess NCEA Level 1 or 2 or the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (levels 1 or 2).

  • All applicants must be able to enrol as full-time students;

  • Additionally for International Students: Applicants who do not have English as their first language, the level of English language skills required is equivalent to an International

  • English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 or above in all bands.

You can attend this course for free if you are aged 16-19 and meet the course entry requirements. This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme
