This qualification is designed for learners with some experience in health and wellbeing assistance who want to upskill in providing healthcare to others. These skills include providing care to people with complex needs, observing and responding to changes in health, planning and risk management in healthcare, and leadership. This practical programme enables learners to enter the workforce as an advanced healthcare support worker or progress into further study.

With an increasing demand for support workers in the health care industry, this 20-week programme will equip you with the practical skills and prepare you for employment as an Advanced Health care support worker. Plus, you will gain real world industry experience with up to six weeks’ worth of work experience at a health care provider.

  • Have an acceptable New Zealand Police vet before entry to the programme. If the programme begins before the report has been received from the New Zealand Police, students may begin the programme but must be informed that they may not attend any practical experience at a health care provider until an acceptable New Zealand Police vet has been received by NZMA.

    ne year relevant work experience in a New Zealand Healthcare setting and demonstrate the ability to achieve the academic aspects of the programme.
