The aim of this programme is to: Provide understanding of support practices for individuals with specific learning disabilities and other learning support needs in education, the wider community and the workplace; Provide cultural understanding to remove barriers for those with specific learning disabilities and other learning support needs; Support the national movement to provide a better understanding of neurodivergent learners; This qualification is for teacher aides, parents and caregivers, employers, educators, and professionals in SLD-related fields.

New Zealand Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities (Level 4)

Ākonga must:


  • Hold a qualification at Level 2 NZQF or equivalent.

English Language:

  • Domestic applicants with English as second language may need to demonstrate sufficiency in English language via Internal Evaluation Test

International students – Additional to the above must meet the following criteria:

  • General or Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent internationally recognised English proficiency test.  

IT requirements:

  • Access to a computer or laptop, a microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
