This qualification is designed for learners who want to upskill in cooking, with vocational training in the preparation of different foods, cooking techniques and disciplines. This highly vocational programme allows learners to gain confidence working in commercial kitchens, and equips learners with all the skills needed to seek employment in commercial kitchens.
This intermediate-level programme really helps to build on your cookery skill set. You’ll learn about a wide range of cookery techniques and disciplines, and gain confidence working in a commercial kitchen environment. At NZMA you learn by doing, so you’ll spend 80% of your time in the kitchen putting your skills into practice.
Domestic students need to be 16 or older, international students need to be 18 or older.
You must have completed the Certificate in Cookery (Level 3).
Applicants without formal qualification must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA placement assessment.
If English is your second language you’ll need an IELTS score of at least 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0, or the equivalent*.
International students must have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.
* Other English Tests / evidence may be approved as advised by NZQA
