This qualification is designed for learners who want to acquire skills related to sports management and human performance, including fitness programme design, indtroductory physiology, and basic research and data skills. This programme allows learners to start work at an entry-level, such as sports assistant, or as a pathway to the Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-Sector) (Level 5).

Must have one of the following:
40 credits at NCEA Level 2
or, have completed a NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3)
or, equivalent foundation learning programme
or, completed New Zealand Certificate in Sport, Recreation, and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 3)
Additionally, must be able to demonstrate skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) that have been acquired through study, work and/or life experience.
